Oxford University Press, Oxford. 1967. Portrait frontispiece in colour, xviii, 278 pages + 22 plates. Folio (39 x 27,5 cm). Blue buckram, title gilt on spine, front board blind stamped and gilt, top edge cut others untrimmed, dust jacket is missing. Printed at the Clarendon Press, Oxford. Plates, and 12 figures in the text. The last of Stanley Morison’s great folios which was finally published in 1967, on the day after his death, in an edition of 1000 copies printed on all rag paper, printed from Fell types specially cast from original matrices. The text was composed by hand in roman and italic of English size and the footnotes in long primer.
